So, in the wake of the local and European elections, I've seen the shape of election coverage to come: it's people on the ground in the count centres twittering, uploading pictures and streaming live video from their camera phones all to a central, automatically updating liveblog. It was brilliant to see breaking news and tallies appearing online long before TV and radio broadcast them.

On a side note, there's nothing so delightfully nerdy as PR-STV. This breakdown of the Ireland East constituency battle in the Euro election is from Jas.


Next general election is going to be so much fun :)

Right there in Google Reader, sitting under an Onion story, is a real bona-fide banner for the maddest ology of them all. It's not a spoof; it links to the real website.



Now, how did that get there? Is the Onion actually accepting ad revenue from Scientology or is this a cock-up by some third-party web ad agency?

Update: Looks like it's no mistake. That's a damn shame.


And I'm totally digging the Fight Club shtick to attract those world-weary Generation Y burger flippers/ex-investment bankers. I am Jack's wavering faith in humanity.

This is LeSinge.org v3.0. It's on its sixth* server since I registered the domain name in November of 2000 and it has gone through several drastic facelifts in that time, usually prompted by some cataclysmic event like someone deleting a load of files they shouldn't, or a server being shut down. This is the maddest layout yet; I'm trying to fit the entire weblog (apart from diary archives and the gallery) into a single loading page using all sorts of PHP-generated DHTML jiggery-pokery. The idea is to make it more inviting to look around since there's no loading between "pages". It's still a work in progress (more a proof of concept than anything), so be patient!

I'm Vinglebert Fistytron! Dave Whyte, an Irish CS graduate, German speaker, linguist and incredibly talented web developer. I'm originally from Fermoy but I now live in Newbridge with my wife Beth and our son. I'm currently working for these fine folks and enjoying it greatly.
